Wirtschaftliche Grundlagen bildeten die Landwirtschaft (Viehzucht undbescheidener Ackerbau) und seit dem 15. Jahrhundert der Passverkehr über Splügen- und Bernhardinpass. Zeitweise wurde im Surettatal Eisenerz abgebaut und in der Schmelzi ander Mündung des Tales verhüttet.Die Gemeinde Sufers bietet seinen Einwohnern und Gästen ein vielfaltiges Ferien- und Freizeitangebot an.Das grosszügige Bauland in Sufers mit einer Grundstückfläche von 1241 m2 befindet sich in der schönen Region Viamala.
